Afortunadamente, aquellos que ahora visitan las celdas en el Prigioni Nuove son libres de irse, sin embargo, muchos se condenan a explorar solo el Centro Storico de esta ciudad hist\u00f3rica.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Para sumergirse realmente en lo que hace que esta regi\u00f3n del V\u00e9neto sea tan especial, uno debe tomar el agua y no solo en g\u00f3ndola alrededor del centro de la ciudad. Abordar&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uniworld.com\/us\/ships\/ss-la-venezia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">el S.S. La Venezia de Uniworld<\/a>&nbsp;para un crucero de ocho d\u00edas me da la oportunidad de aventurarme por toda la Laguna Veneta sin la necesidad de empacar y desempacar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/prdiseheadless.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/1-Italy_Burano_VEE1300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4103\" \/><figcaption><em>El S.S. La Venezia de Uniworld atracado frente a Burano<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Parte del disfrute de navegar por la laguna es descansar en la cubierta para disfrutar de las vistas de las islas que la salpican y apreciar las incre\u00edbles habilidades que los antiguos artesanos tuvieron para crear estructuras y pueblos en aparentemente cada cent\u00edmetro de la tierra firme que encontraron. Estas islas se convirtieron en ciudades fortaleza con la laguna sirviendo como un enorme foso en un intento de mantener a raya a los hunos, godos y v\u00e1ndalos merodeadores despu\u00e9s del colapso del Imperio Romano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/prdiseheadless.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/2-Italy_Venice_0759.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4104\" \/><figcaption><em>Master craftsman Saverio Pastor in his Venice workshop<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.isoladiburano.it\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Burano<\/a>, while famous for its lace-makers, is one of my favorite island towns because of its houses painted in a variety of deeply saturated photogenic colors. An easy morning or afternoon trip by water taxi from there is Torcello, the most northerly inhabited island in the lagoon and home to a historic basilica with beautiful Byzantine mosaics.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/prdiseheadless.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/3-Italy_Mazzorbo_3315.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4105\" \/><figcaption><em>The vineyard on Mazzorbo<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A second short excursion from Burano is over a wooden bridge, the Ponte Longo, \u00adto Mazzorbo, known for its 14<sup>th<\/sup>century Santa Caterina Church and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.venissa.it\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Venissa Estate<\/a>, a walled vineyard where the rare Venetian varietal Dorona grows to produce a golden-hued wine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/prdiseheadless.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/4-Italy_Murano_VEF1481.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4106\" \/><figcaption><em>Murano glass blowing<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Another network of islands linked by bridges is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.muranoglassitaly.com\/murano-island\/?v=7516fd43adaa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Murano<\/a>, famed for its glassmaking. In 1291, the glassmakers of Venice were forced to relocate to Murano due to their furnaces being a fire hazard to the capital city. These days factory tours, all connected to showrooms, are available and well worth the visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/prdiseheadless.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/5-Italy_Chioggia_3286-957x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4107\" \/><figcaption><em>The fish market in Chioggia<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The ship\u2019s furthest port of call is the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.where-venice.com\/chioggia-fishermans-village\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fishing village of Chioggia<\/a>&nbsp;which straddles both the lagoon and the Adriatic Coast. Nicknamed \u201cLittle Venice\u201d the town has sand beaches making it a popular summer getaway for those throughout the Veneto.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/prdiseheadless.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/6-Italy_Chioggia_3272.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4108\" \/><figcaption><em>A view of Chioggia\u2019s main water-artery, the Canale Vena<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/findyourparadise.co\/D618A7D0-5EC0-4656-AA25-56563D951146\/Uniworld%E2%80%99s%20S.S.%20La%20Venezia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">S.S. La Venezia\u2019s<\/a>&nbsp;itinerary includes a one-day tour from Chioggia out of the lagoon to explore Northern Italy\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/findyourparadise.co\/paradise-expert-guide-to-bologna\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">culinary capital of Bologna<\/a>. At a pasta-making class at Cantina Bentivoglio I learn that to make spaghetti Bolognese is almost at the level of a sin. Tagliatelle is the noodle for this particular sauce. Every type of noodle has a size and shape for a very specific and delicious reason. Bologna is also a great place to shop for balsamic vinegar in a variety of ages and viscosities produced in nearby Modena.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/prdiseheadless.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/7-Italy_Burano_0952.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4109\" \/><figcaption><em>The vibrantly colored town of Burano<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Navegamos de regreso a Venecia para un \u00faltimo d\u00eda y noche en la ciudad y pasamos tiempo atravesando los adoquines bien gastados. En el taller de Saverio Pastor, paso tiempo con uno de los pocos remeri (fabricantes de remos) que queda trabajando en una forcola, un remo de madera en el que pivota el remo de la g\u00f3ndola para la potencia y la direcci\u00f3n.
